About the Event

August 25, 2024 @ 7:00 p.m. EST – James Burnett 1st of Countesswells (1742-82)

A short, but surprising life, with a view of his world and that of his contemporaries.

Geordie Burnett Stuart of Dens and Crichie (to give his full title) was educated at Winchester College (1961-5) and studied Oenology and French Culture at Bordeaux University (1966-9). His day job for over 40 years has been running the family farm in fertile North East Scotland. Beef cattle, barley for whisky, wheat for chickens and canola for cooking oil. As an amateur historian, he has written many articles and book reviews on the Stuart monarchs and their supporters in their long running attempts to get back the British Throne. His own family connections have given him the opportunity to examine the lives of some family members in more detail and with much historical resonance.
